MacRoberts LLP Enviros Consulting Ltd were appointed by the Scottish Government to provide support and advice to planning authorities on the preparation of their supplementary planning guidance (SPG) for wind farms from the period between March 2008 and March 2009. This website was intended to support the authorities in producing their SPG.
Now that our contract with the Scottish Government has come to an end MacRoberts LLP and Enviros are no longer responsible for uploading material onto this website. However a decision has been taken to retain access to the website to assist authorities in finalising SPG. We are also not responsible for the content of the external websites listed on our website; however they may provide further relevant and useful information in the preparation of SPG. We note the links listed are not exhaustive and merely provide links to further sources of information. Those listed here include the main trade and professional bodies related to the promotion of renewable energy and those of statutory consultees.
Scottish Natural Heritage: Strategic Locational Guidance for Onshore Wind farms

Scottish Natural Heritage recently published their Strategic Locational Guidance for Onshore Windfarms in respect of the Natural Heritage. The Policy Statement sets out a number of principles that should guide the location of onshore wind farm projects so as to minimise effects on the natural heritage.

The WindfarmSPG team will not be able to review any draft Supplementary Planning Guidance issued after this date.
